What is Sociology?

What does sociology look like?
Sociology should be people interacting with each other and defining themselves as a distinct group, while at the same time being an aggeragate. The picture i have chosen shows kids particpating as a group, with the same goal, but at the same time they arent engaged in each other.

Microsociology
Microsociology is an analysis that studies face to face interaction, and the smaller scale interactions, and how they affect the bigger picture. In this picture, im showing two people having a side conversation, but had they been involved in a bigger group the conversation would have been different.

Particpant Observation
Participant observation is when the sociologist gets involved with what it is that they are studying. For example, in this picture I have decided to participate along with the studying group, rather then veiw them from afar and wonder what it was that they were doing, or studying. I'm becoming a part of what it is that im studying.

Culture Shock
Here is a beautiful picture for you to admire of Haley and Natalie, culturally shocked in France:

Culture shock is when someone enters a world that isnt their own, they become confused with the way things are viewed and done. An example of this would be when someone is to be put into a new social setting  they aren't use to, or if they were to visit a different counrty.

Beginner's Mind
A beginner's mind is when one views the world without any preconceptions, so that they could get the full experience of what is out there. An example of a beginner's mind would be a baby. Babies view everything as if its the first time they have ever seen it, giving them a new understanding to what it is that they are seeing.
